Please read all of this review as it may provide
tips and fixes for your problems along with regular and recent updates
added at the end. Originally this item arrived to me defective. The
laser would turn on and off sporadically. I had to constantly unscrew
the end-cap or lightly tap it to get it to come on; and then hope it
stayed on as I placed it in the chamber.
I contacted the distributor (Outdoor Bunker) who without question sent me another one. The new one arrived in a timely manner with a free return shipping label. What I noticed about the new one (aside from slightly different packaging and brass shape) is that the 3 battery cells were shrink-wrapped together like one battery with clear tape. This not only made inserting the batteries easier, but the devise functioned properly right away.
Using this same concept with the old malfunctioning boresighter, I tightly wrapped one layer of tape around the 3 battery cells together atop one another using a small thin clear piece of packing tape that I had cut to match the exact height of the 3 cells. I then inserted them into the laser. To my surprise, the defective unit now functioned flawlessly. I wrote my findings on a note to the vendor before I shipped it back.
Other tips: This laser boresighter does not perform to an exact zero, though it will get you on paper and save the cost of a few rounds. Specifically, due to inconsistencies in manufacturing, each customer will probably experience difference results because the laser is not mounted (glued) perfectly in the center of each shell casing. For example, you could get a completely different result just by turning the casing 180 degrees within your chamber.
